Discount E Jay: Clubworld
PROS: This is by far the best Music making program I've used in a long time, definitely better than Magix Music Maker for the PS2 (I have that as well). The game allows you to switch between various clubs, each with their own brand of music. Hip-Hop, Reggae, Acid/Electro, Ambient, Trance, Techno, House, and Drum n'Bass. There is even a jukebox feature which allows you to combine all of your songs from the various clubs into one single playlist. You can take the individual tracks and paste them into the arranger, then you can decrease the size of each track in either direction. This is especially useful if you don't want the entire track, rather a certain tidbit that catches your ear and you think would go great in a certain part of the song. You can even move the bits and pieces, or even multiple tracks, in very miniscule increments in order to get them into just the right place.
CONS: I only found a few downsides with this game. For some reason, as you play the entire song back, the data in certain parts of the songs seem to skip/jump, or it seems like it speeds up. Another downside is the fact that you can't control the fade of the tracks, thus, you can't make certain tracks fade into the song, or out, you just have to find a way to transition them. It also appears, and I may be wrong, that you cannot change the effects of an indiviual track, it seems, rather, that you can change the effects of an entire line in the arranger. And the final, and biggest drawback I've found is, there is ABSOLUTELY no way to port the songs from the PS2 to other locations, like your computer or to cds. It gets annoying because you can make an absolutely excellent song, yet the only way to show it off to friends is to carry your memory card and the game with you. I mean, it would be awesome if game developers could use the USB port on the PS2 for Flash/Jump drive compatibility. I even tried porting a song to a USB drive and there's no supporting software.
OVERALL: The game is awesome for anyone with the music vision in their head. I definitely recommend purchasing it. Although you may feel limited, even irritated with the lack of porting options, and the apparent glitches in the data.
